With less than a week before elections several of our admins were removed from facebook without warning of any kind of extreme action such as disabling our accounts. None the less facebook disabled our personal accounts, my account alone had a 4500 person network I used to help others and do business. They removed my personal account on facebook along with all my data and photos as well as my personal instagram account as well. About 10-12 months ago I had got my IG up to 300 story watchers nearly daily out of my 600 followers, and at some point basically overnight it was ramped way down and I barely had 50 watchers daily towards the end of last year. It took me 6 months just to get back to 100 watchers daily, again. I only understand the relevance because I’ve helped others online gain traction and followers professionally. I understand how these algorithms and organizing marketing patterns emerge as well as how to capitalize if desired, so mentioning this is to relay what all of this actually means.
Both of my business accounts on facebook and instagram were completely removed as well. I had 4500 “facebook friends”, 600 IG followers personal (private), 3500 followers on the business facebook, and 1200 followers on the business IG. I had a ten thousand person network that took me a whole decade to build removed out from under me with no notice or reason.
Ever since the fact checking began, facebook had become far more aggressive towards me recently in a way that was fairly concerning. Before this point (past 3 months) I had never been to facebook jail or anything. I probably said some crude things along the way in immature moments through the past, but I tend to be pretty careful now. I was called a Nazi online recently and also had another person lie on another persons facebook telling them I said I’d kill them…that never happened, ever. I’m not even sure what that person hopes to do, other than demonize me to make others want to kill me. It is extremely radical behavior and I wish people wouldn’t allow this level of radical behavior, because it degrades civil engagements on all levels. We’ve seen a lot of civil breakdowns, and that’s the point of me writing this now. This action against us was far less than civil, especially considering the power of these elite technocratic organization that are wiping out years of intellectual property, time, and work energy towards building business networks. This harms us and our livelihoods…I think facebook should really consider these actions more deeply since these things resonate. Most of the time it’s likely these things go without much concern of others, but at what point are you and your profiles next?
